Your financial figures stay on this device. Only your email, a check-value made from your password and your device list go to the Auren account service.
Signing in needs the internet once. After that Auren works fully offline. The sample data needs no account and is kept apart from your own figures: nothing in it is saved to your profile. Your password never leaves this device: only a check-value made from it is sent.
What should Auren call you? You can skip this.
Start with only what matters to you. Everything here is optional except your currency, and you can change any of it later.
Only the currency matters here. It is what every total is reported in, and it can be changed whenever you like.
One account is enough to start. Its balance follows from this opening figure plus everything you record afterwards, so it can never drift from your own ledger. Leave the name blank to skip.
A deposit, a fund, some gold, a home. Money already sitting in the account above does not belong here — that is counted through the account, and recording it twice would inflate your net worth. Leave the name blank to skip.
A loan, a card, money owed to family. Give the amount originally borrowed, the rate and the term, and the planner works out what is left. Leave the name blank to skip.
Give an amount and a date and the planner will tell you what it takes each month, and later — once you have recorded a month or two of income and spending — whether that fits what you actually have spare. Leave it blank to skip.

Each is scored out of 100 against the standard for your age band, then weighted. How much you are worth is not one of them.
Six stages. Each one feeds the next, which is why the phases are built in this order: nothing downstream is trustworthy until what came before it is real.
A balance is never typed in twice. It is the opening figure plus every transaction since, so it always matches what you have recorded.
Accounts are where your money sits. Add the one you use most; a name and today’s balance is enough. The form is just below.
These came across as holdings, which is why they are not accounts already. Converting one is optional, explained before it happens, and leaves net worth unchanged.
Only these shared expenses are included: never your balances, net worth, goals or other transactions. There are no shared links yet; you send the text yourself.
Your account goes down and what you owe goes down by the same amount. It is not counted as new spending.
Amount, category, account, date. Everything else is optional and tucked away. A transfer between your own accounts moves both balances and never shows up as income or spending.
{{ emptyMonthNote }}
Record a month of money in and out under Transactions, or try the demo data to see a full month.
Cash flow is worked out from the transactions you record, so it stays empty until there are some. An opening account balance on its own is not income — it is money you already had. Record a month of what comes in and goes out under Transactions, or load the demo data to see a populated month.
{{ cfCurrencyNote }}
{{ cfUnconvertedNote }}
Add a rate for those currencies under Settings and they will be included.
Shifting your own money around is not income, and it is not spending. Moving money from one of your accounts to another leaves your total cash exactly where it was, so none of the figures above move. The same goes for money you put into investments: it left the account but it is still yours.

Three things decide the answer: whether you can pay for it without eating the emergency cushion, whether the monthly cost fits what you actually keep, and whether your goals still get funded afterwards. Something can pass the first two and still be a bad idea because of the third.

Nothing recorded yet. Add whatever you own that is worth keeping track of — a deposit, a fund, some gold, a home, a car. Cash in your bank belongs under Accounts instead, so it is counted once.
Record a payment against a debt under Transactions and it reduces the debt by its principal part while booking the interest as spending.
Nothing owed on record. If that is true, good — several of the health measures will read at full marks. If not, add each loan or card and the planner can work out what it is really costing you.

A look at the paid tiers with the sample household. Nothing is unlocked and your own figures are left alone.
Only used to label your own screens. Nothing here leaves the browser.
Default card: used when you pick Card for a shared bill, so you never choose a card each time.
Every total is reported in your chosen currency. Changing it does not rewrite a single stored amount — each account, holding and debt keeps the currency it was entered in, and conversion happens only for display.
{{ lockedCurrencyExplanation }}
You enter these yourself, and each one keeps the date and source you gave it, so you can always tell how current it is. Nothing is fetched from the internet. Anything held in a currency with no rate on file is left out of your totals and named below rather than guessed at.
{{ h.liveNote }}
A dated rate applies from its date onwards. Anything recorded earlier keeps the rate that applied then, so today’s rate never quietly revalues last year’s figures. Current balances always use the newest rate.
These feed the goal scenarios and the emergency-fund target. Every one is an assumption about the future, never a promise, and the planner labels them that way wherever it uses them.
One per line. Removing one does not change any transaction already filed under it — those keep their category and still count in your totals.
Things you cannot simply stop paying. This drives the essential-versus-discretionary split and the emergency-fund figure. Loan payments always count as commitments, whatever you label them.
Financial health is scored the same way for everyone: nine measures, each scored out of 100 against a published standard for your five-year age band, combined by weights that are part of the method and cannot be edited. A standard you can retune is not a standard. The full working is on the Financial Health screen.
